200th Rededication of the Meeting House
The Rededication of the Meeting House at 200 Years
by the United Christian Church
Lincolnville Center, Maine
Sunday, September 19, 2021
To the memory of those who have gone before us in the two hundred year history of this building, with abiding gratitude for their vision, commitment, and generosity.
We rededicate the Meeting House.
To honor we are on the traditional land of the Penobscot and to the dismantling of oppression and supremacy of all kinds,
We rededicate the Meeting House.
To community and church, for worship and service,
For comfort and guidance, for support and celebration,
We rededicate the Meeting House.
To foster love of God and love of neighbor within our congregation, community, and world,
We rededicate the Meeting House.
To song and music, prayer and praise,
To wisdom and understanding, to truth and compassion,
to teaching and learning, to wonder and play,
We rededicate the Meeting House.
To hospitality and welcome of all,
To joy and justice, peace and love,
We rededicate the Meeting House.
To the glory of God, to the honor of Jesus Christ,
and to the praise of the Holy Spirit,
We rededicate the Lincolnville Meeting House.
And the people say together as one voice,
AMEN!
This liturgy is based on the building dedication from the UCC Book of Worship and adapted for our use today by our current pastor, Rev. Elizabeth D. Barnum.
